Student Printing

Printing Accounts and Printer Locations

Most buildings on the Mies Campus and most floors at the Conviser Law Center are equipped with printers for members of the Illinois Tech community to use. A printing account is automatically created for each registered student. You must have a computer lab account to access lab computers and print in OTS computer labs.

Please visit our policies page for more information on computer lab and printing account policies.

Account Login

Students, faculty and staff can log in and print in computer labs with their myIIT username and password (same as your university email username and password). When you change your myIIT password, your computer lab account will reflect the change.

Free Printing Credit

Every degree-seeking student receives $5.00 in free printing credits, or the equivalent of 100 black and white, letter-size (8.5" x 11") prints, for each semester you are enrolled in classes. Law students receive $28.00, or the equivalent of 400 black and white, letter-size (8.5" x 11") prints, for each semester you are enrolled in classes.

Free printing credits are applied to each degree-seeking student's account each semester. The free credits do not roll over between terms.

Free printing credits are nonrefundable and expire at end of each semester with no exceptions. Once you register for classes, your printing account will be enabled and free credits for the current semester will be applied to your account. Faculty and staff printing accounts do not receive free printing credits. In order to print in OTS labs, faculty and staff members may either add funds via the university's journal voucher (JESR) process, or utilize TechCash.

Additional Printing Funds

When you have exhausted your allotted printing credit, you can add funds for printing via TechCash. To add funds to you TechCash account, please visit get.cbord.com/iit.

Refunds

Failed/damaged print jobs are only refunded as a free credit, therefore we recommend you request a refund before reprinting. It is the student's responsibility to request a refund in a timely manner, therefore, any requests for refunds more than two days after the print job failed or was damaged will not be honored.

Refunds are only issued for jobs that either fail to print or were damaged by the printer in the process of printing. Refunds due to user error are non-refundable.

How to Print to a Plotter

Using one of the HP plotters on the Mies Campus (located in Crown and Tech North) takes some additional preparation to get a quality plot and avoid waisting your printing funds. The OTS staff have produced a series of four videos to help you learn how to plot properly. Please review each of these videos before attempting to use a plotter.

  1. Plotter Introduction – Preparing Your File
  2. Z6200 Plotter Instructional Video

IIT Mobile Printing

Members of the Illinois Tech community can send a print job from their personal device (PC, Mac, tablet or smartphone) to any printer. Please select the link below for your device.

The default setting is for simplex (one-sided) printing. To utilize duplex printing, you will need to change the printer settings prior to sending their documents to the print queue. To do this, after selecting the printer you wish to use, select “Printer Properties,” and change the setting to “Print on both sides.”

Illinois Tech currently supports two models of plotters: The HP plotters on the Mies Campus located in Crown, Tech North and the Galvin Library; and the Epson Plotter at the Conviser Law Center in the Institute of Design sixth floor studio. Please select the link below for instructions on how to setup the Illinois Tech plotters on your appropriate device.

Releasing Print Jobs

Once you have loaded your print job you can release it by:

  1. Utilizing the PRINT application within Hawki.
  2. Logging onto print.iit.edu
  3. Visiting a printing release station in the following buildings:
  • Galvin Library, Upper Level
  • McCormick Tribune Campus Center (MTCC), Trench
  • Tech North, Room 110
  • Conviser Law Center (multiple locations)

Documents are held in the printing queue for 24 hours after initial submission. To print a document after this 24-hour period has elapsed, you must resend the print job. We recommend that you always keep a back-up copy of your file on a storage device or as an attachment to an email message. We are not responsible for documents that are submitted incorrectly or removed from the queue after the 24-hour holding period.

In addition to the remote printing release stations listed above, there are additional printers available in various computer labs that accept direct printing from the computers in the lab. These include:

  • Alumni Memorial, Room 218 (Color)
  • Crown Hall, Room 001 (black and white/color x2/plotter)
  • Conviser Law Center, Room 180 (black and white)
  • Conviser Law Center, Room 401 (black and white)
  • Conviser Law Center, Room 405 (black and white)
  • IIT Tower, Room 14D6 (black and white)
