Wireless is the most commonly used technology to communicate between devices today. Illinois Tech uses over 1,700 wireless access points to provide network access throughout our four campuses for over 20,000 unique devices per month. Please click on this link for general information and coverage.
The wireless networks available on Illinois Tech campuses appear below.
IIT-Secure
This is the university’s main network, supporting encrypted 802.11ax/ac/g/n. The IIT-Secure network uses WPA2-Enterprise and 802.1X for authentication. Only wireless devices that support WPA2-Enterprise and AES encryption can connect to this network.

EduRoam
Although the Illinois Tech community is free to use it too, this network supports encrypted 802.11ax/ac/g/n and provides access for visiting guests from other member institutions of EduRoam. On campus, EduRoam access is identical to IIT-Secure for Illinois Tech users; there is no difference in service between these two wireless networks.

Please Note: Because Illinois Tech is a member institution of EduRoam, as a member of our university community, you can access the wireless networks at other colleges, universities, and museums that are also member institutions of EduRoam.
IIT-IoT
This network, which supports encrypted 802.11ax/ac/g/n, is best used for gaming consoles, streaming devices, and more. To learn about other connection opportunities on this network, please click on this link. The IIT-IoT network uses WPA2-Personal Pre-Shared Keys (PSKs) for authentication. Only devices registered and assigned a PSK can connect to this network.

IIT-Connect
This network supports unencrypted 802.11ax/ac/g/n and provides Internet access to Illinois Tech guests, tenants, and participants at university-supported events.
