Policy for Personal WEB Accounts on mypages.iit.edu
Any student, faculty or staff member can request a personal account on mypages.iit.edu (~username). Alumni do not qualify for personal Web accounts. Personal Web accounts will have a quota of 1 GB. The name of the account will match the portal username and password of the user. The web account will be terminated after a six-month grace period once the user leaves the University (i.e., graduates, transfers, retires). Users will receive an email 30, 15, and five days prior to removal. If the user is expelled or terminated by the University, the account will be disabled immediately.
Policy for Course Web Accounts on mycourses.iit.edu
Any IIT faculty member can request an account on mycourses (~coursename) through the Office of Technology Services (OTS). Course Web accounts will have a quota of 1 GB. Accounts will be created only if the functions required for the site cannot be done in the Blackboard course management system. The Blackboard administrator will review requests for course Web accounts to verify that the functionality cannot be performed in Blackboard. The account will be terminated seven days after grades are due to be submitted. Users may request to extend or renew the account. Requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and approved pursuant to the aforementioned requirements. The name of the course will match the short name of the course, such as CS101-01 or MAE101-51.
Policy for IPRO Accounts on mypages.iit.edu
Any faculty or staff member can request an account for an existing IPRO group on mypages. IPRO accounts will have a quota of 1 GB. Accounts will be terminated seven days after grades are due to be submitted. An IPRO that lasts longer then one semester may request a redirect from the old account to guide traffic to the new IPRO site. The name of the account will follow the following format with no exceptions: ‘iproNNNTYY’, where NNN is the course number, T is the term (i.e., ‘f’ for fall,‘s’ for spring), and YY is the year (e.g., ‘12’, ‘13’, ‘14’).
Policy for Student Organization Accounts on mypages.iit.edu
Any student organization, club, or project recognized by the Office of the Dean of Students may request an account on mypages through the Student Affairs Office.
The name of the account will be created based upon the organization name, subject to OTS approval. New organizations do not qualify for subdomain addresses. Existing organizations will be permitted to retain their subdomain so long as the site is active and maintained. Student organizational accounts will have a quota of 1 GB. Accounts will expire annually at the end of May, with the option for renewal provided the organization maintains active status.
Policy for Research Accounts
Any official research center, as recognized by the Graduate College, may request an account on mypages or may request to have their own subdirectory of www.iit.edu, subject to approval. Research accounts will have a starting quota of 1 GB. Accounts have the option of being managed through the LCMS, subject to institutional branding and design. Research accounts do not expire.
Policy for Subdomain Requests
All requests for IIT subdomains (virtual domains) will be subject to review by OTS and IIT Marketing and Communications. The assignment of virtual domains to non-IIT IP addresses may be permitted, if the virtual domain name is approved. These requests are typically reserved for recruiting or advancement efforts. Virtual domains for official IIT departmental accounts, offices, and organizations will not be permitted. Pre-existing virtual domains for these official accounts will be redirected to their LCMS website upon go-live of the LCMS site and will expire within one year of conversion into the content management system.
