Multifactor authentication (MFA) requires all users to take an additional step beyond entering their username and password when logging into Access Illinois Tech to verify their identity.
When you activated your account in Phase 1, you chose how you wanted to provide this multifactor authentication after you logged in to access.iit.edu, selecting from three possible MFA options:
- The "Okta Verify" mobile app; and/or
- SMS authentication (text messaging); and/or
- Voice-call authentication
When you log into Access Illinois Tech, you will be prompted to verify your identity using one of the multifactor authentication methods that youDisable rich-text configured when you set up your account. If you selected more than one possible method, the system will default to the verification method you used most recently. You can adjust the way you verify your identity by clicking on the down arrow. (See image below.) Only verification methods you have already set up will be available to you until you add others.
If you have a smartphone, OTS strongly recommends using the Okta Verify app because it is the fastest method to securely verify your identity. We also recommend that you select at least two possible methods—the Okta Verify mobile app and one other option.

Logging into Transitioned Apps from the MyIIT Portal
If you first log into the MyIIT portal (my.iit.edu) and then click on apps that have been transitioned to Access Illinois Tech—currently Google Workspace, Blackboard, and Zoom—you will have to authenticate through Access Illinois Tech.
When you click on those apps, you will see a screen like the one below, with a “Connecting to...” banner across the top of the screen. After you log in through Access Illinois Tech, you will be taken directly to that application.
