General:
IIT's Office of Technology Services supports two different mailing
list systems for use by faculty, staff, and qualified student organizations.
A mailing list automatically sends all list subscribers a copy of any
message sent to the list; it is a tool frequently used for ongoing online
discussions.
Who:
Any IIT faculty or staff member or any qualified student organization
may operate mailing lists.
Administration of Mailing Lists:
After the initial list operator account creation, the listowner is
responsible for all administration of that list. Administration of the
Majordomo lists can be performed via e-mail. Documentation for e-mail
list administration commands is online at http://majordomo.cns.iit.edu/list-owner-info.html.
The web based Listserv allows you to manage the list through a web browser.
Instructions for the web based Listserv is available on the site (http://mailer.iit.edu).
Following initial set-up of the list, OTS will not be responsible for
any list administration or management.
Please note that your mailing list should
not exceed 500 email addresses, and the system is not guaranteed to work
correctly with some international email addresses.
Account Request:
Account request information can be found on the web sites.
