To set up your Microsoft Outlook Express, go to Start, Programs and select Microsoft Outlook Express or click on the outlook express ICON which looks like an Envelope with two blue arrows on it. When you are in your outlook go to Tools and Select Accounts.... Please look at the following figure:

After you click on Accounts, you will have a new window open with the title Internet Accounts.
Click on Add and select Mail (not the one next to All but the one that is part of the Add menu as shown in the picture below)
After you have selected Mail, you will see an option to enter your name. Please enter the name that you want to be appeared when you send an email.

After you have entered your name, click on Next. It will ask you for your email address; enter the email address that you want to be set as your outgoing and incoming address.

After entering your outgoing email, click on Next.
Then the outlook will ask you for your incoming and outgoing email server. To determine the server information, please visit http://ots.iit.edu/howto/checkemail.php for more information. In this example I have entered "email.iit.edu" as both incoming and outgoing email server because that's what most of the faculty members have as their incoming and outgoing servers (provided they are connecting on campus or have an IIT dial up connection). If a faculty member did not have IIT as thier Internet Service Provider they would have a different outgoing email server..

Click on Next when you have entered your ingoing and outgoing Servers.
Then Outlook will ask you for your login and password. For example if you have an account as wadhste@iit.edu, your login will be "wadhste" and password will be the one you use to access your email. Check the Remember Password option
Click on Next and then select Finish and you are done.
If you want to leave a copy of your email on the server (which we do not recommend), you will need to go again into Tools menu of Outlook Express and Select Accounts... as you did earlier. Then select Properties and click on Advanced tab, as shown below and select "Leave a copy of message on server" in the Delivery section. You can also select till how many days you want your email to be in server and then click on OK.
