Once you have configured your email client to download your email from IITs servers, they are deleted automatically by default.  In order to leave a copy of your messages for a specified period, follow the steps outlined below:

Microsoft Outlook & Outlook Express

1.  Open the list of accounts you created in MS Outlook and Outlook express by selecting Accounts from the Tools menu.  Select the appropriate account from the list and click on "Properties."

2.  Click on the "Advanced" Tab

     Under "Delivery" Check the 'Leave a copy of messages on server" box

     Set the number of days you would like to keep the email.

3.  Click Apply and OK. 

Eudora 5.0

1.  Get to your account by selecting Tools > Personalities from the Main Menu.

2.  Right click on your personality, select "Properties" and click on the "Incoming Mail" tab.

  Note:  the “server” in this screen shot is wrong.  The actual server should be students2.iit.edu

3.  Check the "Leave mail on server" box.  Then check the box that reads "Delete from server after __ days."  Specify the number of days in the box.

4.  Click OK to finish.
